Beulah,
SMALL TOWN APPEAL … BIG CITY LOOKS
As
you crest the last hill on Highway 49 you kind of drop into a storybook
place that is often said to be the best kept secret in North Dakota.
Often referred to as the “Energy Capital of North Dakota”,
Beulah maintains
its uniqueness of being able to go to the coffee
shop and visit with the locals where everyone smiles and gives
you that friendly greeting, or if you want to catch a different
conversation you might drop into the “cappuccino
place” and enjoy the friendly welcome and join a table
crowd as you sip one of your favorite flavors or just order to go
so you can keep the busy schedule.
As
you look around you will note the gentle hills and valleys providing
a scenic valley rich in grain and cattle. But wait; there are some
special sounds that make this place so unique. If you listen closely
you’ll hear sounds that help fuel America. Dovetailed with
the fertile farmland, grazing cattle, and the beauty of the wildlife
are the area’s massive
power plants. Their giant smokestacks are visible for miles
around.
There
you have it: Beulah, Ordinary, yet unique. Modern, yet boasting a rich
heritage. Rural, with all the modern amenities. Always personifying the
magic word to those who live here: HOME.
But that’s not all. A trip to Beulah also offers:
A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN
HOLD YOUR CONVENTION
Beulah is the home to the new motel AmericInn
and Suites complete with indoor pool, sauna, and exercise room and
a high tech equipped conference room for all your business needs. Along
with our two existing motels
that provide a great place to stay we can provide you with 150 rooms for
your convention lodging needs. This past summer Beulah hosted the regional
Aerie Eagles Convention accommodating over 500 attendees and the Good
Sam multi state and Canadian Province convention, which brought in 200
campers and found
the fairgrounds and civic center to very accommodating. Several regional
conventions were also hosted for several organizations and government
agencies, as well as planning is ongoing for statewide conventions booked
for the next two years.
A CITY THAT ADDRESSESS
SENIOR HOUSING NEEDS
The Beulah Jobs Development Authority just coordinated the construction
of two Senior Housing unit complexes to meet the needs and desires of
the aging population. The Schoolhouse Apartments are renting to seniors
and provide a quality, friendly living environment for those seniors living
in the complex. A noon meal provided by the senior meals on wheels program
gives the residents a balanced meal daily in addition to providing a time
for socializing and “times together” which takes away much
of the loneliness in the aging years. Memories abound for many of the
residents living in the historic structure as many had attended school
there as well as their children.
The Country Meadow Condominiums provide another style of living for those
still able to live independently. The four-unit complex gives the individual
owners a quality life style as the units were designed with retirement
and easy accessibility in mind. The project was again coordinated by the
Beulah Jobs Development Authority recognizing the need for people to relocate
from the rural area or a home “too large” for their needs.
The 1,200 square foot units, with cathedral ceilings, walk out decks and
double attached garages provide for a comfortable living style to the
owners and the enjoyment of lawns and landscaping without the work involved
to maintain it.
