Dodge, North Dakota's Progressive "Little" City

Traveling west on Highway 200 is the "little" city many refer to as North Dakota's progressive little city. The town residents are very proud of the rich history and continue to make improvements to their fair town.

In 2002, they remodeled the town auditorium, the center for entertainment, weddings, and most community events. The town council sponsors clean up days for the city, has created a war memorial for all of Dunn County's veterans, past and present, and has a very active saddle club as well as community club members.

Dodge was named after George Dodge - a Minneapolis banker who purchased the land after hearing the railroad was to be platted further west. He erected the first building, the Dodge State Bank.

The town grew and soon the booming town had 2 banks, a hotel, a post office, general store, a meat market, pool hall, lumber yard, grocery store, livery barn, fire hall, a school, a newspaper, and most of all, good, friendly people. Though some of the businesses no longer exist, one will still find good, friendly people.

The town still has a grain elevator, K-6 school, with students attending high school in Golden Valley, seven miles east.
